Julia Kittross, Executive Director

Young JuliaWhere you direct your passion and spend your time outside of work:  Family first (husband and two boys - sophomore in college and freshman in high school), then napping, reading, enjoying the garden my husband keeps up, and paying attention to my dog and cat (who demand my attention).

What you did on your last vacation: See Nick's last vacation - our sons are friends.  I cheered my oldest son's U.S. Junior Worlds Team to the championship in the World Ultimate and Guts Championships.

Birth order and number of siblings: Youngest of two.  I have one older brother.

What drives you nuts: Trying to get my kids to do chores.  Asking.  Asking again.  And then asking again.  And then it's still not done.

Favorite thing(s): My mother's paintings and old family photos (the photo at left is me as a young girl).

Favorite destination:  The warmth and color of Santa Fe.

Nick MacPhee, Program Officer

Nick bikingWhat drives you nuts: our two dogs (Great Dane and a beagle), most especially when they are chasing squirrels in the back yard.

Where you direct your passion and spend your time outside of work: family first (wife and 2 boys - college and senior in high school), then cycling.  Besides bike commuting every day, I do a lot of long distance riding.  My big 3 events are: STP (Seattle to Portland) - 204 miles in 11 hours;  RAMROD (Ride Around Mt. Rainier) - 150 miles and 10,000 feet of climbing in 9 hours; and High Pass Challenge (Mt. St. Helens) 124 miles and 8,000 feet of climbing in 6 1/2 hours.

What you did on your last vacation: stood on sidelines and cheered our youngest son's Seattle Ultimate Frisbee team to victory in the Youth Club Championships in Blaine, Minnesota (they won in a thriller against Pittsburg!).  We spend most of our vacation time these days traveling to my two son's tournaments.

Birth order and number of siblings: oldest of 6 kids - 2 boys at bookends - all girls in between.

Favorite destination: our place at Decatur Island in the San Juan Islands.

Favorite thing(s): coffee and dark chocolate.  Specifically, a double espresso in a little cafe' just off the Campo Dei Fiori in Rome where we lived for 3 months.

Catherine Osgood, Program Officer

Catherine skydivingWhere you direct your passion and spend your time outside of work:  Outdoors. I love taking a ride on my bike, hiking, kayaking, white-water rafting, and travel of any kind.

What you did on your last vacation: Went on a whirlwind trip to London to catch up with my funny British cousins and close friends who convened from all over the world. I'm blessed to have amazing people in my life.

Birth order and number of siblings: #1 (of 3)

What drives you nuts: Ice cream truck music. It's torture! The tinny sound carries for miles and the tunes are impossible to get out of my head.

Favorite destination: Hard to choose. Rovinj, Croatia or Kyoto, Japan!

Favorite thing(s): The scent of pine trees. Water and mountain views. My bouncy cat who plays fetch like a dog.

Katie Briggs, Project and Operations Manager

katieWhere you direct your passion and spend your time outside of work:  Cooking, gardening, spending time with my husband and crazy dog, reading, being outside - biking, kayaking, picking berries or mushrooms, digging clams, fishing, spending time at the coast...I'm so glad I live in Washington!

What you did on your last vacation: My last real vacation was honeymooning in La Paz, Mexico - eating tacos, fishing, snorkeling, and enjoying the sunshine with my new husband.  It's a lot warmer in Mexico in April than it is in Seattle!  My last mini-vacation was camping at the base of Mount Adams with a bunch of friends (picture at left).  It was COLD, but I guess that's what you get when you camp at 4,500 feet in October!

Birth order and number of siblings: Oldest (and bossiest) of three.

Favorite destination: Really hard to choose.  The places I've loved the most have been the places with the best food and the best markets.  And I love the ocean, particularly the Pacific Coast.

Favorite thing(s): Sunshine.

What drives you nuts:  Slow walkers hogging the sidewalk, or people at the grocery store who block the entire aisle with their cart and wander off...I guess it's the complete lack of awareness of the way you are impacting the people around you that really gets me.

Thank you to the Meyer Memorial Trust for inspiring us to approach our staff bios with humor and humanity.
