Arts In Education

Arts in Education FAC description

The Arts In Education Fund Advisory Committee's vision is to transform lives and enhance learning through arts education.

The mission is to support arts education in the classroom and in after school programs in partnership with schools.

The Arts in Education FAC is still evolving and its approach is under development.  Because of this we are not accepting grant applications; any grant applications will be by invitation only.

Grants Awarded in 2008:

 

Arts for Academic Achievement - $25,000 

To support a school reform model that creates collaborations between classroom teachers, artists and art organizations in Minneapolis Public Schools.

 

ArtsChange - $20,000  

Through performances and puppet making workshops, ArtsChange promotes healthy eating and creativity for young children in low income public schools in Oakland and Richmond, CA.

 

Arts Corps - $25,000  

A challenge grant to encourage the Arts Corps board to raise a matching $25,000 grant and to expand Arts Corps arts programs.

 

Arts Impact - $6,000  

This organization provides programs to empower and train K-5 teachers in the Puget Sound area with the tools in visual and performing arts to infuse art into other learning areas.

 

Hoffman Center - $15,000  

To support a community art and education center in Manzanita, OR, including clay arts education for K-12 schools in the area.

 

Minnesota Center for Book Arts - $25,000  

To support bookmaking skills and education and outreach programs to 11,000 public school students.

 

Seattle Symphony Orchestra - $30,000 

To support classical music education and outreach projects for low income children grades K-6 in 12 core schools in Seattle.

 

Seattle Youth Symphony - $30,000 

To support the largest youth symphony in U.S. which impacts 1,100 young musicians annually through concerts, an Endangered Instruments program, and support of public school music education.

 

West Sound Conservatory - $30,000  

A grant to develop a comprehensive multi-arts education after-school program in Kitsap County. 

 

Winona Area Public Schools - $30,000 over two years

A grant to develop an “artist in the classroom” program to bring arts education more substantially into Winona public schools. 

 

Young Audiences - $20,000 

To support a teaching artist professional development program through implementation of an Effective Residency program.
